 Photograph Notes: In
late December, I visited the Skagit River valley to look for bald
eagles; at this time of year, hundreds come down from Alaska and Canada
to feed on salmon. Although the fog, unfortunately, obscured most of the
eagles, I literally drove by this scene near Concrete with the cows in
the pasture, the mist
obscuring the hillside and a clear view of the snow-capped mountain on top;
the image was hard to
ignore. Afterwards, when I looked at the image on the computer, I saw
that I had captured part of a 'fogbow' in the mist -- the equivalent of
a rainbow but with fog instead. This photo received the "Photo of the Day" Award in the
landscape category at the
Digital Photo Contest web site. |
