Photograph Notes: I was tracking this adult eagle as it
circled closer and closer overhead. At the time of this picture, it had
approached to within forty yards and was close to filling the frame of
the camera. With a 400mm zoom lens, I was challenged to keep the eagle
in the center of the frame and, in this photo; consequently, I am
missing just a inch or two of the feathers at the end of the wing that
were clipped off as the eagle circled out of the frame. (February of 2004.)
There has been a lot of interest in this photograph and I
think I've figured out why. There's a quote in the New Testament Isaiah
(40:31) that refers to the strength of soaring eagles and I guess this
image reminds them of that:
"But they that wait upon the LORD
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint"
