Photograph Notes: While hiking along the boardwalk in the
Norris Geyser basin, I found the contrast of colors coming from the
runoff of two different geysers (at the very top of this picture) to be
really interesting -- one geyser left a clear green trail while the
other was bright orange and the two streams did not mix well for the
first hundred or so feet. Clearly, the minerals from the two water
systems in the geysers are different even though these two geysers were
not more than 20-30 feet apart. (August of 2005.)
