Photograph Notes: Our longest hike during our vacation
was to Mystic Falls and the Imperial Geyser. Along the way, we passed by
the back of the Grand Prismatic Spring -- the largest hot spring in the
world. We climbed several hundred feet up a nearby hill in order to get
a full view of the hot spring. The contrast in colors is absolutely
amazing as the deep blue of the water shows up so strongly against the
orange colors coming from the bacteria that live in the hot waters. (August of 2005.)
