Photograph Notes: We walked outside one morning and found
this juvenile bald eagle sitting on some rocks within fifty feet of our
house.. This clearly shows the young eagle with mottled feathers and
characteristic hooked nose. Young bald eagles do not yet have the
characteristic white feathers on the head and neck. This eagle was
probably one of the birds born within the last year or two who had returned. (May of
2003.) |
